Knight was very active in her building on the resident council. She also volunteered with church missions and at a local food bank. She was thrilled to have her wish granted!

The women, who range in age from 72 to 85, are good friends who look out for each other on a daily basis. One even noticed when another was having a stroke and called 911, saving her life. The women were dressed in their finest, including gloves, corsages and fancy hats, and enjoyed high tea together with volunteers from the Allegheny County chapter on Thursday, April 20th.

McCay, 75, was an RN for many years until she developed chemically-induced asthma. She also suffers from other medical issues and has chronic pain. Her wish is to either meet her favorite singer, Rod Stewart, or see him in concert.

/in Fulfilled Wishes/by Mary FarrellJeff Pawlos, a resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, will have his wish to attend a Penguins game with his sons and grandsons granted, thanks to our Allegheny County chapter. Pawlos, a Navy veteran, suffered a stroke four years ago which impacted his speech and left him without any movement or feeling on the right side of his body. He has been working extremely hard learning to complete daily living function using the non-dominant side of his body. Pawlos’ goal is to relearn how to walk again and hopes to walk his daughter down the aisle at her wedding. Thanks to our Allegheny County chapter, Pawlos will celebrate his upcoming 65th birthday by attending a Penguins game with his sons and grandsons. He was presented with tickets to the game and a wish certificate honoring him at his home on Monday, February 20, 2023.

Cole is a Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam era. She lives on a fixed income and could not afford the sofa on her own. Cole has neuropathy and needs to rest periodically by sitting down.

Richard is an Air Force veteran and is the handyman in his senior high rise. He helps all residents in the building with that are in need. Richard’s current recliner lift chair broke and he could not afford to replace it on his own.
