Twilight Wish staff recently delivered arts and crafts supplies to the Arts & Crafts Club at Grundy Hall in Warrington, Pennsylvania. These residents meet weekly to create special cards and artistic creations for the other residents there.

Phyllis Monsegur, a resident of The Grove Health & Rehabilitation in Hernando, had her wish to spend the day at the beach with her husband granted, thanks to our headquarters. Monsegur, 73, is a permanent resident of The Grove and is visited by her husband, John, every day. Because she is wheelchair-bound, it is difficult for her to leave the facility. They miss spending time together outside of the facility. Monsegur’s wish to spend some time at the beach and have lunch together was granted on February 6, 2022. Twilight Wish also provided her with a new outfit for this special occasion.

Elizabeth’s wish for an accessibility ramp is granted

Elizabeth Sites, 69, a resident of Shoemakersville, Pennsylvania, recently had her wish for wheelchair accessible ramps installed on her home granted by our headquarters. Sites spent seven years in a nursing home after suffering three strokes. After she was released, she saved her money so she could afford to buy her own home. Since Sites lives on a fixed income, she could not afford to install the ramps on her own. A huge thank you to Mike Lawson of Lawson Creative who donated labor and some materials in order for this wish to be granted!

Doylestown Township Parks and Rec help grant wishes for seniors in Grundy Hall

Doylestown Township Parks and Recreation partnered with Twilight Wish to brighten the holidays for seniors in the community. Basic needs items such as lip balm, socks, hot chocolate and paper products were collected from December 1^st through December 17^th.Staff and volunteers from Twilight Wish Foundation and Doylestown Township sorted and delivered bags of these items to the residents of Grundy Hall in Doylestown, a low-income housing facility for seniors.

Garden Spring residents receive holiday gifts

Thanks to the generosity of Angie’s Angels, we were able to grant the simple needs wishes of 32 residents of Garden Spring Center in Willow Grove. Angie’s Angels brightened the holidays for these residents by granting their wishes for simple items such as chocolates, sweatshirts, an UNO card game and coloring books and crayons. Angie’s Angels and Twilight Wish staff distributed the holiday gifts on Thursday, December 16^th.

Susan’s wish to visit Gatlinburg at Christmas is granted

Susan Mullins, 70, resident of Old Hickory, Tennessee, had her wish to visit Gatlinburg at Christmas granted, thanks to Twilight Wish. Mullins was in a car accident several years ago and is now confined to a wheelchair. She wished to visit Gatlinburg, and more specifically, Dollywood, during the holiday season, but because she and her husband are on a fixed income, they could not afford it on their own. Twilight Wish made her wish come true!

Lifelong Packers fans get to see them play in Minnesota

John and Cookie Kolodziejczyk, residents of Maple Grove, Minnesota, will have their wish to see their beloved Green Bay Packers play in person granted, thanks to Twilight Wish Foundation and the Minnesota Vikings. John, 91, and Cookie, 90, are lifelong Packers fans. They recently moved from their home they built 68 years ago in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to senior living in Minneapolis to be near their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Not only do they miss their home and friends, but both have chronic health issues and need to use assistive mobility devices. A Korean War veteran, John has been disabled for many years due to a mining accident. Cookie recently had a heart valve replaced and worked various jobs until her retirement. Because finances were limited, they never had the chance to experience a live football game with their favorite team. Now, though, their wish will come true thanks to the generosity of the Packers’ rival on game day: the Minnesota Vikings who generously donated tickets and a handicapped parking pass! Thanks also to the Green Bay Packers for donating Packers’ warm hats, scarves and blankets to keep John and Cookie warm during the game in Minneapolis!

Betty’s wish for a radio headset is granted!

Betty Carstens, a resident of Marian Oaks Assisted Living in Ocala, had her wish for an AM/FM stereo headset granted. Betty, 97, is legally blind and cannot watch TV. She loves listening to music but does not have a radio in her room. Having her own headset will allow her to listen to music and “dance” to it by tapping her feet to the rhythm. Betty was an RN for many years in several states. Her simple wish was granted on Wednesday, October 20^th.

Gloria’s wish for eSight is granted, thanks to Mattoon Lions Club

Gloria Lindley, a resident of Mattoon, Illinois, had her wish for eSight granted, thanks to Twilight Wish Foundation and the Mattoon Lions Club. Gloria, 79, has been losing her sight to macular degeneration for a long time. Without an assistive device, she has a visual acuity of 20/400 in both eyes. With eSight 4, a medical device designed to enhance low vision, she was able to read the eye chart at a 20/40 level. Lindley, who raised her two sons on her own, lives alone on a fixed income and can’t afford the cost of the eSight glasses on her own. Twilight Wish reached out to the Mattoon Lions Club who agreed to assist with this wish and generously covered the cost of the eSight. Gloria joined the Mattoon Lions Club at their monthly meeting in November in celebration of having her wish granted.

Mariann is gifted her own tablet

December 2, 2021/in Fulfilled Twilight Wishes

Marian McAndrew, a resident of Garden Spring Center in Willow Grove, recently had her wish for an Android tablet granted. Mariann loves to borrow the social services tablet at her nursing facility to use for entertainment but, because there are so many residents that also need to use it for telehealth appointments, there is limited availability of it. Because of health issues and her limited mobility, she spends most of her days in her bed or in a geri chair. Mariann has no close friends or family that visit her, so the using the tablet brings her great joy. Having her own to use whenever she wants will greatly improve her quality of life. Her wish was granted on Wednesday, October 6, 2021.
