Patricia N., 68, Hemet, CA

Patricia Neil, a resident of Hemet, California, had her wish to visit Disneyland granted, thanks to Twilight Wish Foundation. Neil, 68, lives on her own and has been battling health issues for years. Her love for all things Disney grew out of her father meeting Walt Disney years ago. Neil has many Disney collectibles around her home and her one wish was to visit Disneyland. She has been very involved in her community, volunteering at Gilda’s Club and at the Braille Institute of America. Neil was accompanied by caregiver LaShawna Ervin on her wish. In addition, Twilight Wish founder Cass Forkin’s daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren met with them at Disneyland to present Neil with her wish certificate. This wish was made possible thanks to a generous donor.

Stanley H., 75, Salisbury, NC

Stanley Hall, a resident of Salisbury, North Carolina, had his wish to have a member of the military visit him in the VA granted, thanks to n Twilight Wish Foundation. Hall is a Navy veteran who worked as an electrician on aircraft carriers during the Vietnam War. He was exposed to Agent Orange and is now suffering from ischemic heart disease, Lewy body dementia and Parkinson’s. His eyesight is failing, he has trouble speaking and can no longer walk. Hall loves the Blue Angels and was nominated by his wife, Diane, so that he could have “one more minute of happy in his life.” He was visited by retired Navy Master Petty Officer David Phillips who spent two hours with him reminiscing about their service on ships and aircraft carriers during their time in the service.

Betty Q., 71, Philadelphia, PA

Betty Quick, a resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, had her wish for a hoyer lift granted, thanks to a collaboration between Twilight Wish and Federation Housing. Quick, 71, needs a hoyer lift in order to have assistance with her mobility and independence. Her old one broke and insurance did not cover the cost to replace it. Quick had been a very active member in her neighborhood church and was a part of the worship team there. She was very happy to receive the lift!

Larry’s wish for a stairlift is granted

Larry Lugar, 85, a resident of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, recently had his wish for an outdoor stair lift granted, thanks to a very generous donor. Lugar is an Army veteran who recently had to have an above the knee amputation. He completed rehab in a facility but could not return home without a stair lift. Lugar missed his wife, children and grandchildren very much while in the facility and his mental health was beginning to suffer. His wish was granted in October of 2022.

Navy veteran has wish for accessibility ramp granted

Charles “Chip” Huffman, a resident of Feasterville-Trevose, Pennsylvania, had his wish to have an accessibility ramp installed granted, thanks to a collaboration with Fox Rehabilitation and Amramp. Huffman, a Navy veteran, has multiple medical issues and has lost strength in his arms and legs due to nerve damage. He also recently fell and broke his ankle making walking extremely difficult, despite his hard work at trying to improve his mobility and independence. In addition, his wife, Lois, has her own medical issues including a recent hip fracture and surgery. Huffman, 76, relies on a wheelchair to get in and out of his home and having an accessibility ramp will improve his quality of life. Thanks to a generous donor, his wish was granted on Monday, November 14th. Thanks also to Amramp for discounting the cost of the ramp installation.

Henry G., 82, Jacksonville, FL

October 24, 2022/in Fulfilled Twilight Wishes

Henry Gagne, a resident of Harbor Chase Senior Living in Jacksonville, Florida, had his wish to bring the circus, and more specifically, clowns, to his facility to entertain the residents grante. Henry, 82, was a professional clown for many years, entertaining countless people in the Jacksonville area. He still loves to dress up in his clown outfit and makeup and perform for the other residents, but this is becoming more difficult for him as he ages. Henry is a Navy veteran who served for 21 years including during the Vietnam War. After his discharge, he married and raised a family of four children with his wife. Henry also financially assisted several needy children with their college educations through a foundation. He is known as one of the kindest residents in his community and loves music, giving little gifts to others and clowning around. Henry’s wish was granted on Sunday, October 9th when he dressed up again and performed with clowns from Gator Clowns. Harbor Chase was decorated like the “big top” and there were circus foods like cotton candy, Crackerjacks, animal crackers and more for the residents to enjoy!

Nancy R., 79, Oil City, PA

Nancy Ryan, 79, a resident of Oil City, Pennsylvania, had her wish to travel to reunite with her sister in California granted. Nancy and her sister were very close growing up. As adults, they traveled together, but because of health issues and the pandemic, they haven’t seen each other in over ten years. Thanks to a generous donor, Nancy’s wish was granted!

Omaha nursing home residents are gifted robotic pets

Older adult residents of Florence Home Health Care Center, Royale Oaks Assisted Living and House of Hope Assisted Living and Memory Care in Omaha, Nebraska, had their wish for ten robotic pets and ten tablets granted, thanks to Twilight Wish Foundation. Studies have shown that using robotic, lifelike pets in dementia care contributes to a reduction in loneliness and anxiety for those seniors. In addition, communicative technologies such as tablets allow seniors to have more face time with their families which is beneficial on many levels, especially during COVID and times of isolation. Many of these residents are Veterans who have served in wartime, and these items will benefit them and improve their quality of life.

“We are not only fighting a COVID pandemic but also a pandemic of loneliness among older adults in which both robotic pets and tablets may help provide some relief or a reduction in unwanted symptoms,” states April Hauf, Director of Social Service, Florence Home Healthcare Center. “With the addition of robotic pets, we hope and expect to see a reduction in stress levels and improved moods, as well as providing both comfort and companionship to combat loneliness.”

The gift of hearing

Mary Jo Davis, 88, a resident of Newton, Massachusetts, had her wish for hearing aids granted, thanks to Twilight Wish Foundation. Mary Jo had needed hearing aids for years, but because she is on a fixed income, she could not afford them on her own. Thanks to the generosity of True North Hearing and Alpaca Audiology, her wish was granted on August 19, 2022.

Raymond’s wish for a sewing machine is granted

Raymond Haines, a resident of Garden Spring Center in Willow Grove, had his simple wish for a sewing machine and supplies granted, thanks to Twilight Wish Foundation. Haines, 72, worked as a tailor since he was 16 years old. Although he is now a resident of Garden Spring, he wants to keep busy and feel useful by mending and altering other residents’ clothing for free. Thanks to generous donors, his wish was granted on July 18^th.
