A simple wish for Gertrude is granted
/in Fulfilled WishesGertrude Cabrol, a resident of Pawtucket Falls Health Center in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, had her wish to have her personal items transported to her new facility granted, thanks to our Rhode Island chapter. Cabrol, 67, had been living in an assisted living facility, but after spending time in the hospital, she was moved to the long-term care facility an hour away from her prior home. Cabrol has no family nearby to assist with moving her personal items to her new facility. Luckily, her social worker reached out to our Rhode Island chapter to see if they could assist with this wish. Not only did the Rhode Island chapter move her belongings, but they surprised Cabrol with new clothing, a throw blanket, an Easter basket filled with goodies and Easter flowers.

Camilla’s wish for a seafood dinner was granted!
/in Fulfilled WishesA few weeks ago, we surprised Camilla Murphy with a special seafood feast on her 98th birthday! Her social worker said she enjoyed the food for three days! This wish was special to Murphy because she and her father had a bond over their love of oysters. In fact, when her father was on hospice and was craving fried oysters on a Sunday, she tracked down a seafood restaurant that was open and brought them to him. He hadn’t been eating much and was thrilled to have his favorite meal again. Murphy has been thinking about this a lot lately and will never forget how happy he was. Her social worker who delivered the meal to her told us how grateful they were for this simple wish making such a difference in her life.
