/in Fulfilled WishesAnna Veyera, a resident of Waterview Villa Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in East Providence, RI, had her wish to have a Frank Sinatra/Engelbert Humperdinck impersonator perform for her 93rd birthday party granted, thanks to our Connecticut chapter. Veyera has been a resident of Waterview Villa for several years and is known throughout the facility as a truly generous and loving person. Her nominator wrote: “Anna is the first to reach out to hold anyone’s hand who is struggling and shares her lovely smile with all.” She has a CD player in her room and enjoys the music of both Frank Sinatra and Engelbert Humperdinck the most. Veyera worked as a dental assistant for over 20 years and served as President of the Rhode Island Dental Assistant Society for one year and as Treasurer for two years. After retiring, she sold Avon for ten years. Married for over 65 years, she has one daughter, a granddaughter and three great grandchildren. Veyera was also an award-winning bowler for 63 years!

/in Fulfilled WishesBen Baltazar, a resident of Bristol, Pennsylvania, had his wish to have a motorized scooter granted, thanks to Twilight Wish Foundation. Baltazar, 81, is a Navy veteran who served during Vietnam. He suffered a stroke in February of 2021 and has limited mobility. Baltazar is mostly homebound and has only been able to leave his home four times during the past year. Having a lightweight, foldable motorized scooter will allow him the freedom to leave his apartment more often. His children will be able to take him out to lunch and other family events, improving his quality of life. Prior to his stroke, Baltazar was an active member of his community and church. In his younger years, he volunteered in South Philadelphia distributing food to the underserved. Because he lives on a fixed income, he cannot afford the scooter on his own. Thanks to a generous donor, his wish was granted on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.

/in Fulfilled WishesSally Brisbane, a resident of Westmoreland Manor in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, had her wish to have dinner at Red Lobster granted, thanks to our Westmoreland County chapter. Brisbane, 82, has been a resident of Westmoreland Manor for over four years. She has very few family members nearby and is wheelchair bound so it is difficult for her to leave the facility. Brisbane is well known in Westmoreland Manor for cheering up other residents and is the treasurer of the Resident Council there. She was nominated by Renee Kessler, another resident there who had her wish granted last summer. Brisbane enjoyed dinner at Red Lobster with several of the Westmoreland County chapter volunteers. Thank you to Red Lobster for donating appetizers for this special meal. Thank you also to Fayette EMS for assisting with the transportation of Brisbane even though it is out of their service area.

Tweed is an Air Force veteran who is disabled and homebound. His wife, Christine, is his caregiver and they rarely leave their home. Tweed wished for a PlayStation5 so that they could send time together with their grandkids and with each other. Before becoming disabled, he loved to play golf and being able to play a golf video game will bring him enjoyment while he deals with his medical issues. Thanks to a generous donor, his wish was granted on Monday, January 30th at 4 pm.

/in Fulfilled WishesPatricia Neil, a resident of Hemet, California, had her wish to visit Disneyland granted, thanks to Twilight Wish Foundation. Neil, 68, lives on her own and has been battling health issues for years. Her love for all things Disney grew out of her father meeting Walt Disney years ago. Neil has many Disney collectibles around her home and her one wish was to visit Disneyland. She has been very involved in her community, volunteering at Gilda’s Club and at the Braille Institute of America. Neil was accompanied by caregiver LaShawna Ervin on her wish. In addition, Twilight Wish founder Cass Forkin’s daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren met with them at Disneyland to present Neil with her wish certificate. This wish was made possible thanks to a generous donor.

Powell, 82, needs a lift chair in order to assist her with her mobility and motivate her in her goal to to walk again. She needs to rotate her body frequently and sit properly in order to stimulate and strengthen her muscles. Because she lives on a fixed income, she could not afford the chair on her own. Powell had been very active in her community volunteering for many years at the Salvation Army.
Stanley H., 75, Salisbury, NC
/in Fulfilled WishesStanley Hall, a resident of Salisbury, North Carolina, had his wish to have a member of the military visit him in the VA granted, thanks to n Twilight Wish Foundation. Hall is a Navy veteran who worked as an electrician on aircraft carriers during the Vietnam War. He was exposed to Agent Orange and is now suffering from ischemic heart disease, Lewy body dementia and Parkinson’s. His eyesight is failing, he has trouble speaking and can no longer walk. Hall loves the Blue Angels and was nominated by his wife, Diane, so that he could have “one more minute of happy in his life.” He was visited by retired Navy Master Petty Officer David Phillips who spent two hours with him reminiscing about their service on ships and aircraft carriers during their time in the service.
