Nick has his wish for a new refrigerator granted!

An Army veteran, Nick is 90 and lives with his wife. They needed a working refrigerator but could not afford one on their fixed income. Thanks to our Westmoreland County chapter, their lives will now be made a bit easier.
Avaline’s simple wish is granted
/in Fulfilled WishesAvaline Cantini recently had her wish for a reclining lift chair granted by our Westmoreland County chapter. Avaline’s health has declined, and she can no longer get up for a regular chair safely and independently. Having a lift chair will allow her to continue living on her own. In her younger years, Avaline volunteered at her children’s school and was a member of the Lion’s Club. Thank you to Blackburn’s Medical Equipment for helping to grant this wish.
A simple wish granted for Joyce

Joyce, who is 79, has osteoarthritis in both knees and her hip, making it difficult for her to sleep flat on her back. Being able to elevate her legs will allow her to get a good night’s sleep, improving her quality of life. Thank you to Blackburn’s Medical Supply for helping to grant this wish!
Antoinette has her simple wish granted

Antoinette, who is 82, has congestive heart failure and is on oxygen 24/7. She needs to sleep with her feet elevated but could not afford the lift chair on her limited income. Thanks to our Westmoreland County chapter, her wish was granted!
Sharon has her wish for a lift chair granted

Sharon, 70, was recently diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and it is difficult for her to get up from her chair. Having a lift chair will greatly improve her quality of life.
Eileen’s wish for a laptop with special software is granted
/in Fulfilled WishesEileen Vehon, a resident of Latrobe, Pennsylvania had her wish for a laptop with speech recognition software granted, thanks to ourWestmoreland County chapter. Vehon suffered a spinal cord injury which caused a stroke when she was 69 years old. Now 75, Vehon has not been able to work or even drive herself since then. To keep herself busy, she is writing a book but is unable to type since her stroke. Having a laptop with speech recognition software will enable her to follow her dream of writing a book. Despite her physical limitations, Vehon still volunteers at her church’s soup kitchen for the homeless. Her wish was granted on May 27, 2024.
Sixteen skilled nursing facilities in Westmoreland County receive kindles
/in Fulfilled WishesThe residents of sixteen skilled nursing facilities in Westmoreland County will be gifted kindles thanks to the Howard Giving Circle and our Westmoreland County chapter. The members of the Howard Giving Circle chose Twilight Wish as their beneficiary this year. In turn, Twilight Wish purchased 16 Kindle Fire Tablets with durable cases to be given to 16 skilled nursing facilities in Westmoreland County.
Mary’s favorite meal from Red Lobster was brought to her facility
/in Fulfilled WishesMary Fowler, 86, a resident of Westmoreland Manor in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, had her wish for a dinner from Red Lobster granted, thanks to our Westmoreland County chapter. Fowler and her late sister shared a love of seafood and often ate at Red Lobster. She has been missing both her sister and their meals together. The Westmoreland County chapter arranged for her favorite seafood meal to be brought into her facility and she was delighted!
Gertrude’s simple wish for a recliner is granted
/in Fulfilled WishesGertrude Teats, a resident of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, had her wish for a new chair for her living room granted, thanks to our Westmoreland County chapter. Teats, 76, was a Navy corpsman who worked in labor and delivery at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital when she was younger. Her current recliner belonged to her son who has since passed away. Although she can’t bear to part with it for sentimental reasons, it is no longer comfortable. Her simple wish was granted on March 2, 2024.
Paul receives a laptop so he can study cyber security
/in Fulfilled WishesPaul Svetahor, a resident of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, had his wish for a laptop granted, thanks to our Westmoreland County chapter. Svetahor, 81, is an Air Force veteran who wants to continue his education and go back to college for cyber security. Despite his age, he is very eager to learn and having a laptop will allow him to continue his education.
