Beacon Brook Health Center, Hartford, CT
/in Fulfilled WishesTen residents of Beacon Brook Health Center in Naugatuck, Connecticut, were gifted tablets, thanks our Connecticut chapter Communicative technologies such as tablets allow seniors with dementia the ability to listen to music and to communicate with their families which is beneficial on many levels, especially during COVID and times of isolation. Many of these residents are Veterans who have served in wartime and these items will benefit them and improve their quality of life. Chapter Director Andrea Hoisl presented the residents with the new tablets and cases during a wish granting ceremony in late December during a post-Christmas celebration with snacks and lots of laughter for the residents.

/in Fulfilled WishesBetty Quick, a resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, had her wish for a hoyer lift granted, thanks to a collaboration between Twilight Wish and Federation Housing. Quick, 71, needs a hoyer lift in order to have assistance with her mobility and independence. Her old one broke and insurance did not cover the cost to replace it. Quick had been a very active member in her neighborhood church and was a part of the worship team there. She was very happy to receive the lift!
Kathleen L., 67, Philadelphia, PA
/in Fulfilled WishesKathleen Les, a resident of Philadelphia, had her wish for a laptop and printer granted, thanks to our headquarters chapter. She enjoys spending time writing books especially romance novels. Unfortunately, her Selectric typewriter was very old and does not work properly. She wished for a new laptop (with processing program) and printer but cannot afford to buy one on her own. Kathleen currently lives on a fixed income. When she was younger, she volunteered at mental health meetings to help facilitate them. She also fought for her son to get proper help for his mental health and his special school. Thanks to generous donors including board member Jon Miller and his daughter Tatum, her wish was granted.
Strauss Manor Residents, Tucson, AZ
/in Fulfilled WishesThirty residents of Strauss Manor on Pantano in Tucson, Arizona had their simple needs wishes granted, thanks to our Tucson chapter of national nonprofit Twilight Wish Foundation. The residents asked for simple items such as an electric can opener, a large print dictionary, new sheets and pajamas. Representatives from the Tucson chapter delivered the items to the seniors during a holiday luncheon at Strauss Manor on Saturday, December 17th at noon.
Ron M., 76, Medford, NY
/in Fulfilled WishesRon Matonti, a resident of Medford, New York, had his wish for restaurant gift cards granted, thanks to our Long Island chapter. Matonti, 76, is an Army veteran who has congenital heart failure and is homebound. Because of this, he relies mostly on canned foods that are delivered to him from a local food pantry. His wish was to receive restaurant and food delivery gift cards so that he can order fresh food instead of just eating canned foods. Matonti was nominated by Melanie Corinne, the project coordinator for the Joseph Dwyer Peer Support Project in Suffolk County. Long Island Chapter Director James Ciervo and Corinne delivered the gift card basket to Matonti on Friday, December 17th at his Medford home. This wish was made possible thanks to the generosity of many donors.
Corvallis Manor Residents, Corvallis, OR
/in Fulfilled WishesTen elderly residents of Corvallis Manor were treated to a day out at Spirit Mountain Casino, thanks to our newly formed Northwest Oregon chapter. These ten seniors are in skilled nursing care at Corvallis Manor and having the opportunity to leave their facility to have lunch and play the slots was a wonderful experience for them. Special thanks to Spirit Mountain Casino for donating the luncheon for these seniors and their aides and to Spirit Mountain Community Fund for covering the cost of the transportation. This was the first wish granted by the Northwest Oregon chapter of Twilight Wish Foundation.
Larry L., 85, Johnstown, PA
/in Fulfilled WishesLarry Lugar, 85, a resident of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, recently had his wish for an outdoor stair lift granted, thanks to a very generous donor. Lugar is an Army veteran who recently had to have an above the knee amputation. He completed rehab in a facility but could not return home without a stair lift. Lugar missed his wife, children and grandchildren very much while in the facility and his mental health was beginning to suffer. His wish was granted in October of 2022.
Wadsworth Glen, Middletown, CT
/in Fulfilled WishesTwo residents of Wadsworth Glen in Middleton, Connecticut, had their wish to go to lunch and see a performance of “Christmas in Connecticut” granted, thanks to the Central Connecticut chapter of national nonprofit Twilight Wish Foundation. The residents and their aides were picked up from their nursing home in style in a stretch black limo from Liberty Limousine and taken to lunch at the Gelston House in East Haddam. After lunch, they walked across the street to the Goodspeed Opera House where they enjoyed a performance of the classic “Christmas in Connecticut.” These residents are being thanked for being so helpful at their facility with visitations and community activities.
Elaine K., 79, Greensburg, PA
/in Fulfilled WishesElaine Kempher, 79, a resident of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, recently had her wish for a lift chair granted. Kempher had been on hospice and was provided a reclining lift chair as a benefit of that program. Happily, she no longer needs hospice care, but the former hospice provider took the chair back. Kempher spends most of her time in the recliner, even sleeps in it, so she needed it replaced quickly. Thank you to Blackburn’s for discounting the cost of the chair for her.
Mary Anne C., 67, Pittsburgh, PA
/in Fulfilled WishesMary Anne Cole, 67, a resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, recently had her wish for a sofa granted, thanks to our Allegheny County, Pennsylvania chapter. Cole is a Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam era. She lives on a fixed income and could not afford the sofa on her own. Cole has neuropathy and needs to rest periodically by sitting down.
