Philanthropic Partnerships Spur Trust, Good Will – And Revenue for Homecare and Hospice Organizations
/in News Releases, Top Stories“As home care and hospice organizations plan their 2024 budgets, it’s important to keep charitable giving top of mind,” says Bill Taylor, CPA, Hospice Consultant, Data Aggregator and Founder of DataSharks.
“Supporting a nonprofit organization with a like mission can be a win-win for both companies, especially those with established foundations, and the communities they serve,” Taylor says. “Being generous with money, time and talent can put a company in a stronger position to not only enhance the services and care they provide, but to attract more referrals, strategic partners, engaged employees and loyal vendors, as well. All of which can positively impact an organization’s bottom line.”
“Charitable giving is not only a good thing to do, but it also makes good business sense,” adds Peter Stinson, Executive Director of the Bucks County-based Twilight Wish Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that fulfills wishes for needy seniors. “Aside from the main goal of philanthropic efforts – doing good – there are other ways a home care and hospice company can benefit by donating to or partnering with a not-for-profit organization.”
Stinson says that among them:
A case in point … Cass Forkin, Founder and Chairwoman of the Board at Twilight Wish Foundation, was recently named a L’Oréal Paris Woman of Worth for her 20+-year commitment to enhancing the lives of deserving seniors by fulfilling unmet needs and making dreams come true. It’s a recognition that will bring a year’s worth of national (and international) attention to the Twilight Wish mission. Learn more about L’Oréal Women of Worth Campaign here .
Money – Well Spent.
“Home care and hospice foundations can contribute to a nonprofit they trust and know those monies will be spent well in the communities they serve,” says Taylor. “It’s a great way to use funds toward your mission without violating regulational constraints.”
Daniel Stephens, Senior Vice President for the CHAP (Community Health Accreditation Partner) Center for Excellence and Member of the Twilight Wish Board of Directors, he’s seen, firsthand, the benefits of partnering with or sponsoring a nonprofit. “When organizations – like Twilight Wish – can help take care or service to the next level, referral sources notice,” he says. “More than simply good will is generated – referrals are, too.”
Kelly Woods, Vice President of Sales for Care Hospice, agrees. “Hospice care is focused on ensuring quality and dignity at the end of life. Partnering with an organization who can help you do that is not only the right thing to do, but it also means reaching (and helping) more people, effectively growing your business.”
Woods adds that whether it’s taking a patient to a baseball game or ensuring a veteran can meet up with a fellow vet, or arranging to drive a beloved corvette, organizations like Twilight Wish who are dedicated to enhancing life and making dreams come true is truly the why behind hospice care.

Twilight Wish Opens Chapter in Indiana!
/in Top StoriesTwilight Wish is pleased to announce the appointment of Sunee Fleshman as director of the newly-formed Indiana chapter of Twilight Wish Foundation. A recent graduate of the University of Notre Dame and an alumnae of St. Mary’s College, Fleshman, 23, was very involved with campus ministry and often performed music at masses for the Sisters of the Holy Cross who reside on campus. Fleshman grew close to many of the women there, especially Sister Marilla Dyer, 92. For Sister Marilla’s birthday last September, Fleshman surprised her with a ticket to the Notre Dame-Purdue football game and pushed her in a wheelchair all the way from St. Mary’s to Notre Dame to attend the game.
“It was one of the best days of my life,” said Fleshman. “And, it inspired me to want to grant wishes for the elderly.” However, as a busy college student, Fleshman had no idea how she could manage, much less afford, such an ambitious endeavor until she was crowned Miss Collegiate North in March. Her platform, “Shining Light through Twilight,” provides her the opportunity to help those seniors who have inspired her throughout her life. As chapter director, Fleshman will be making wishes come true for deserving seniors in Indiana, making our world a nicer place to age.
New Chapter Opens in Illinois
/in Top StoriesTwilight Wish is excited to announce the appointment of Terese Klinger as director of the newly-formed Elburn, Illinois chapter of Twilight Wish Foundation. Klinger has been an occupational therapist for over 10 years, working in a variety of settings. Currently, she is working full-time in home healthcare. Klinger is also a registered therapeutic riding instructor and provides occupational therapy services part-time in an outpatient clinic that specializes in hippotherapy.
Klinger was inspired to join Twilight Wish after an incident involving her elderly father.
“My dad fell while out for his morning walk and two high school senior girls on their way to school saw him fall. Not only did they walk home with him, but they stopped by after school to make sure he was okay,” said Klinger. “On that day, my faith in humanity was restored. It’s all about people helping people, regardless of age. And, in my work with the elderly, I have the perfect opportunity to help make seniors’ wishes come true.”
Welcome, Terese!
Twilight Wish Welcomes New Hampshire Chapter
/in Top StoriesTwilight Wish is pleased to announce the appointment of Beverly Mutascio as the director of the newly-formed New Hampshire chapter of Twilight Wish Foundation.
Mutascio has been working with the elderly in her community for many years, first as a licensed nursing assistant (LNA) in a nursing facility and later in home care. “When I heard about Twilight Wish, I just knew that this was a way for me to make a difference beyond my immediate community and to get others involved as well,” said Mutascio. “My desire is for everyone to see and enjoy all the treasures the elderly have to share with us and to give back to them for all they have given and sacrificed for later generations.” For more information on the New Hampshire chapter of Twilight Wish Foundation, visit the website at www.twilightwish.org or call Beverly Mutascio at (603) 264-5351.
