Third Annual Night of Stars & Twilight Wishes a Success

The Western Pennsylvania chapter of Twilight Wish recently hosted their third annual fundraiser “Night of 100 Stars & Twilight Wishes” at Sing Sing Dueling Piano Bar in Homestead. Over 100 people attended, raising almost $4,000 which will go towards granting wishes in the five county area served by the Western Pennsylvania chapter. Guests were encouraged to dress as their favorite star of the 50’s, 60’s or 70’s at this always-fun happy hour fundraiser! Thanks to all who attended and made this fundraiser a success.

Bucks Business Professionals Present Check to Twilight Wish

Thanks to Bucks Business Professionals, a local business networking organization, for choosing Twilight Wish as the beneficiary of the first annual Family Fall Fest & Moonlight Movie. Held at the Moravian Pottery & Tile Works Museum on Saturday, September 22, 2012, this family-friendly event featured many fun children’s activities and ended with the showing of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, under the stars in the Tile Works courtyard. The event was a success, raising $9,500 to directly benefit low-income senior citizens throughout Bucks County and beyond. Members of Bucks Business Professionals presented the check to Twilight Wish founder, Cass Forkin, and Director of Volunteers, Jan Stumpf, on Friday, October 19, 2012. First Family Fall Fest & Moonlight Movie a Success!

Bucks Business Professionals, a local business networking organization, recently presented the first annual Family Fall Fest & Moonlight Movie to benefit local nonprofit, Twilight Wish Foundation. Held at the Moravian Pottery & Tile Works Museum on Saturday, September 22, 2012, this family-friendly event featured pony rides, face painting, moon bounces, a photo booth, sand & spin art, food, live music, a car show and vendors. The fun-filled day concluded with a showing of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, under the stars in the Tile Works courtyard.

According to Bucks Business Professionals’ board member, Bill Flax, the event was well-attended and successful; raising funds to benefit Twilight Wish foundation and the low-income seniors it serves. Thanks to all the local vendors who participated in the event and to top sponsors Mission Pharmacal, Alamo Pharma Services, BioComp Pharma and Central Bucks Rotary. Thanks also to the many volunteers, especially the National Honor Society students from Central Bucks East and West, who donated their time and energy to make the day such a success. Twilight Wish Welcomes New Board Member

Lisa Mach is a partner and bookkeeper for Adult Assisted Living Referral and Placement Service, Inc. in Tucson, Arizona. Mach has 25 years of bookkeeping experience and recently completed board member training from the United Way Inclusion Council in Arizona. She also started the Tucson, Arizona chapter of Twilight Wish Foundation in 2006 with her mother, Rose Muzzy. She resides in Tucson with her daughter, Gabriella. Macy’s Shop for a Cause a Success!

Thank you to all who participated in Macy’s Shop for a Cause on Saturday, August 25th. Thanks also to our volunteers who staffed the Twilight Wish table at the Macy’s in Oxford Valley Mall. All proceeds from the sale of Macy’s shopping passes directly benefit Twilight Wish.

Ware Presbyterian Village Residents Enjoy Trip to Walmart

Five residents of Ware Presbyterian Village in Oxford, PA had their simple wish for a shopping trip to Walmart granted recently. During the past school year, Avon Grove High School National Honor Society students raised funds to grant the simple needs wishes of eight residents of the nursing home. The students raised $1,000 by selling cake pops after school and hosting a 5K run. The students visited the school in May 2012 and visited with the residents and gave them their gifts, including Walmart gift cards for these five women. According to Tami Bennett, Ware Presbyterian Village Activity Director, they had a wonderful day and were able to purchase things they would not have been able to purchase without the students’ generosity.

Happy Birthday to Our Oldest Volunteer!

Congratulations to Josefina (Fina), our oldest volunteer, who just turned 100 on August 12, 2012. Although she is almost completely blind from macular degeneration, Fina still knits and crochets lap blankets and scarves for elderly recipients. Fina is known for her sense of humor and strong faith and is an inspiration to all who know her. She lives with her son-in-law and does the cleaning, cooking and laundry for the household. When asked what the secret to her longevity is, she replied “I guess it’s the one Corona I have every weekend!” Happy birthday to Fina!

This family-friendly event will feature pony rides, face painting, moon bounces, a photo booth, sand & spin art, food, live music and vendors. The fun-filled day will culminate with the showing of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, under the stars in the Tile Works’ courtyard.

Twilight Wish Welcomes New Director of Volunteer Management and Special Events

We are excited to announce that Jan Stumpf has joined our Doylestown staff as part-time Director of Volunteer Management and Special Events. Jan has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare field and most recently was Assistant Volunteer Coordinator at the Family Service Association of Bucks County in Langhorne. In addition, Stumpf is also active in the community and volunteers with Contact Philadelphia, Habitat for Humanity and the Delaware Valley Philharmonic. Welcome, Jan!

Gloria Dei Senior Communities Partners with Twilight Wish

Gloria Dei Senior Communities and Twilight Wish are partnering to grant the simple needs wishes of 30 residents at Saint John Neumann Place in Philadelphia, a low-income independent living community. As part of Gloria Dei’s CARE Community Outreach Program, residents in their Bucks and Montgomery county facilities raised funds over the past few months to grant residents wishes for basic items including a fry pan, a clock radio and a robe. Representatives from Gloria Dei and Twilight Wish will visit Saint John Neumann Place and distribute the gifts to the residents on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 during a special reception.
