Local Veterans Honored During Doylestown Airport’s “Celebration of Flight”
Two local veterans helped kick off Doylestown Airport’s annual “Celebration of Flight” open house by taking off into the wide blue yonder as passengers in an airplane on Saturday, June 2, 2012. Their flights were arranged by Twilight Wish. This year’s open house was held in conjunction with the week-long Doylestown County Seat Bicentennial Celebration and included free airplane rides, music, food and radio-controlled aircraft demonstrations.
Robert Crossett of Doylestown and Jack Jameson of Danboro flew in a Cessna 182 piloted by Jim McEachern of the Warrington Flying Club. Crossett served 26 years in the Navy and took part in Operation Desert-Storm. Jameson seved in the Air Force during both the Korean and Vietnam wars and fought in the Battle of Dien Bien Phu.
Thanks to Twilight Wish volunteer, Michael Ellenbogen, who represented Twilight Wish at the event and presented the veterans with their wish certificates. Photo, from left: pilot Jim McEachern, Robert Crossett and Jack Jameson.
