The Gift of Vision
The Western Pennsylvania chapter of Twilight Wish Foundation recently granted the wish of Jane Banks, 74, of Pittsburgh. Banks had been gradually losing her vision and was unable to do many daily tasks independently. Her daughter submitted the wish application on her behalf requesting a scan reading device for her mother. Although the cost of a scan read machine typically costs over $3,000, it would allow Banks to read mail, pay bills and remain independent in her own home. Twilight Wish volunteers worked with Freedom Scientific to arrange for an 18-inch LCD machine at a reduced cost for Banks. This device, known as a TOPAZ, was delivered to Banks’ home by Twilight Wish volunteer, Christina Luna. According to Banks’ daughter, Pamela Gage, “Mom absolutely loves her new CCTV and has been using it every day. It has made an astounding difference in her life. Thanks so much!”
