Betty O., 83, Indianapolis, IN

Betty Ottinger, a resident of Rosegate Healthcare in Indianapolis, had her wish to see the Nutcracker performed granted, thanks to the partnership between our Indiana chapter and American Senior Communities. Betty, 83, has always dreamed of seeing the Nutcracker performed, but never had the chance. One of her most prized possessions is a music box that has several scenes from the Nutcracker on it. It was one of the last gifts her late husband gave her and is in her room at the nursing facility. Betty volunteered in her church’s Good Shepherd’s Community cooking and serving food to the homeless. Her wish was granted on Sunday, November 26th when she attended the Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker at the Murat Theatre.

Jack W., 71, Lebanon, IN

Our Indianapolis chapter recently granted Jack’s wish for an Amazon Echo, thanks to a partnership with American Senior Communities. Jack is struggling with a visual impairment that greatly affects his ability to be independent. The Echo will allow him to play music, send and receive messages, get information, receive news, enjoy audio books and control lighting and thermostat in his home, greatly improving his quality of life.

David T., 69, Indianapolis, IN

Our Indianapolis chapter recently granted David’s special wish to reunite with his sister who he hadn’t seen in over 30 years. His sister lives in New York and and her health is quickly declining, making it impossible for her to travel. David  and his sister were very close growing up and he wished to see her again before it was too late. An Army veteran, David is a pastor in his church and also volunteers in the food pantry. His wish was granted, thanks to a partnership with American Senior Communties.  Pictured is David with his wish nominator, Valerie Moore.

Stevie M., 72, Valparaiso, IN

Stevie McMeans, 72, recently had his wish to see KISS in concert granted, thanks to a partnership between our Indiana chapter and American Senior Communities. Stevie, a resident of Valparaiso Care & Rehabilitation Center, is a huge KISS fan. His greatest joy in life is listening to KISS songs and his room is decorated with posters and memorabilia. Stevie is very involved in activities in his facility and  helps in the community with jobs sponsored through Opportunity Enterprises. Everyone at his facility was thrilled that his wish came true!

Mary B., 80, Speedway, IN

Mary Jane Bishop, a resident of Speedway, Indiana had her wish for a yard makeover granted, thanks to the partnership between our Indiana chapter and American Senior Communities. Mary, 80, and her husband always took great pride in maintaining a beautiful yard.  Sadly, her husband of 60 years recently passed away and she is physically unable to maintain her yard anymore on her own. Mary has been very involved in her community for years, volunteering with the Indy Crop Walk, her local PTA, Dellwood Day Camp and Church World Service. In addition, she served on the board and assisted with implementing a children’s program at Speedway Christian Church. Volunteers from the Indianapolis chapter of Twilight Wish gave her yard a much-needed sprucing up: they weeded the flowerbeds, raked alot of leaves,  trimmed the bushes and decorated for Christmas. Thanks to Accurate Construction and Precision Painting, LLC for their generous donation towards this wish.

Lavetta R., 81, Brownsburg, IN

Lavetta Ray, 81, had her wish to go to Chicago with her sister one more time granted, thanks to the partnership between our Indiana chapter and American Senior Communities. Lavetta’s husband used to take her shopping in Chicago when they were younger. Sadly he has passed away, but Lavetta wished to be able to go there one more time. She and her sister enjoyed a wonderful day together: they visited Navy Pier where they rode the Ferris wheel, toured Skydeck Chicago and shopped. Making the day even more special was CNN/HLN covering this amazing wish!
