Growing up in a family that moved often, playing the piano was Gloria’s solace. She taught herself to play by ear at age three and then taught herself to read sheet music. Now 81, Gloria lives in assisted living in Long Island and often plays the piano in the recreation room, entertaining the other residents. She wished to have a portable piano with a stand and bench so that she can play wherever she wants. When she was younger, Gloria volunteered at the Women’s Center in Hempstead. Gloria was thrilled to have this special wish come true, courtesy of our Long Island chapter!
