Betty is in a wheelchair and needed ambulance transport, but her family couldn’t afford it. In addition to transporting her back and forth to the wedding, we surprised her with her favorite perfume!
Luther Woods, Hatboro, PA
/in Fulfilled WishesThanks to funding from our “Tuesdays with Lori” legacy program, we were able to grant the wish of residents at Luther Woods in Hatboro, PA. Their old sewing machine had broken and it needed to be replaced. We presented Eileen, a seamstress extraordinaire, with the new sewing machine.
Ida G., 73, Pitcairn, PA
/in Fulfilled WishesIda Green, 73, a resident of Pitcairn, PA, recently had her wish for a lift chair granted, thanks to our Allegheny County, PA chapter. Ida purchased a used lift chair many years ago but it is now falling apart. Because she lives on a fixed income, she couldn’t afford to replace it on her own. Ida volunteers at her building’s food bank and helps other residents clean their apartments when they need to move out. She also knits blankets for her local hospital. Her wish was granted on August 19th.
Helen C., 76, Pittsburgh, PA
/in Fulfilled WishesHelen Crouse, a resident of Pittsburgh, PA, had her wish for a lift chair granted, thanks to our Allegheny County, PA chapter. Helen, who is 76, has several medical issues that make it difficult for get out of a regular chair. Having an electric lift chair will greatly improve her quality of life and allow her to remain independent.
Karen M., New Castle, PA
/in Fulfilled WishesKaren Munson, a longtime resident of Haven Convalescent Home in New Castle, Pennsylvania, had her wish to attend Steelers training camp granted, thanks to our Allegheny County, PA chapter. Karen suffered a stroke at the age of 42 and has limited mobility. She has been a resident of Haven for over 11 years and is currently president of the Resident Council there. At the time of her stroke, Karen was working as a full-time registered nurse on a medical/surgical floor and was very active in her church and community. She is a huge, lifelong Steelers fan who never misses watching a game and has her room completely decorated with Steelers gear. Thanks to the efforts of many, her wish to attend training camp was granted on August 14th. Former Steelers quarterback, Bruce Gradkowski, owner of Pilgrimage Hospice, arranged for her to get access to the field where she met many players. In addition, Pilgrimage Hospice presented Munson with a gift basket of Steelers memorabilia. Finally, thank you to ACTS transportation for donating a bus to be used to transport her to camp and to driver Roy Lee for volunteering his time to drive it.
Dorit H., Tucson, AZ

Dorit has been battling a terminal illness for several years and is now in hospice care. She has been upset over the changes in her physical appearance during this time and wished for a makeover to make her feel beautiful on the inside and outside.
Selma M., 79, Canonsburg, PA
/in Fulfilled WishesSelma Missel, 79, a resident of Canonsburg, PA, recently had her wish for hearing aids granted, thanks to the Washington County, PA chapter of Twilight Wish. Selma is severely deaf and needed hearing aids to help us function with daily life. Because she lives on a fixed income, she could not afford them on her own. Thanks to the Washington County chapter, her wish was granted.
Samuel N., 58, Jeannette, PA
/in Fulfilled WishesSamuel Nania, a resident of William Penn Care Center in Jeannette, had his wish to attend a Pirates game granted, thanks to the Westmoreland County chapter of Twilight Wish Foundation. Sam, 58, is an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan who watches every game on TV. Because he is physically disabled, it is difficult for him to leave the facility much less attend a game in person. Thanks to the Pittsburgh Pirates who donated the tickets, Sam and a caretaker attended the July 25th game vs. the St. Louis Cardinals. The Westmoreland County chapter provided spending money and paid for transportation for them.
Charles W., 92, Seneca, SC
/in Fulfilled WishesCharles Williamson, a resident of Seneca, South Carolina, had his wish to return to Germany where he served during World War II granted, thanks to Twilight Wish. Charles, 93, was a tank driver in the Army’s 3rd Armored Division and was stationed in Germany, near the Dachau concentration camp. Thanks to generous donors who donated airline miles, we were able to send Charlie and his grandson to Germany. Among the towns they visited were Cologne, where his division was involved in an infamous tank battle with the Germans near the Cologne Cathedral; Dessau, where his division met the Russians; and Schrozberg, where the 3rd Armored Division stayed (in Bartenstein Castle). This will be the trip of a lifetime for Charlie as he revisits these areas where he served. In addition to his service to country, Charlie has volunteered for years in his community as a long time Sunday school teacher and poll worker.
John G., 82, Greensburg, PA

John, a Navy veteran, has significant hearing loss which makes it difficult for him to talk on the phone with his family and friends. Because he lives on a fixed income, he could not afford the cost of the phone on his own. Thanks to our Westmoreland County chapter, John received his new phone which will improve his quality of life!
