/in Fulfilled WishesDorothy Delia, 86, a resident of West Babylon, NY, recently had her wish for dental work granted, thanks to our Long Island chapter. Delia needed dental work done badly. She hadn’t been able to afford to go to the dentist since she retired and lost her dental insurance. She had begun to lose her teeth and could only eat soft foods. Delia worked and volunteered for the Salvation Army for over 20 years. She also did intake after 9-11 and is very involved in her church. Thanks to a generous donor, her wish for dental work was granted!
Leonard P., 78, Pittsburgh, PA
/in Fulfilled WishesLeonard Peluso, 78, a resident of Pittsburgh, PA, had his wish for a washer and dryer granted, thanks to our Allegheny County chapter. Peluso has severe COPD and is on oxygen 24/7. A Vietnam veteran, he is in hospice care. Peluso and his wife have very little resources and no family or friends to help with their laundry. Because they cannot afford a car, it is a hardship for them to go to the laundromat. Having a washer and dryer in their home will allow hospice staff do do laundry for them while visiting.

The clock will be helpful for her to keep track of the date and time for her medical appointments. Her wish was granted on January 7, 2020.

/in Fulfilled WishesPatricia Holub, 72, a resident of New York City, recently had her wish for a new stove granted, thanks to our Long Island, NY chapter. Holub is a retired social worker who has been blind since birth. She had been using a two burner electric hot plate because she could not afford a new stove on her own. She also desperately needed pots & pans, cooking utensils etc. Because of her medical issues and income level, she qualifies for 24/7 live in Medicaid covered care. Her caretakers are willing and eager to make her healthy, home cooked meals instead of having to rely on already prepared or processed foods. Her wish was granted on January 4, 2020.
Grace L., 101, Pittsburgh, PA
/in Fulfilled WishesGrace Lynn, who recently turned 101, will have her wish for a birthday party with friends and family granted, thanks to our Allegheny County chapter. Lynn, a resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, turned 101 on December 18th. She was nominated by her 86-year-old daughter-in-law, Audrey Woods. Lynn still lives on her own in Homewood House which is subsidized senior living and helps serve coffee for other tenants in the building. The Allegheny County chapter planned a special birthday party for Lynn complete with balloons, coffee and a birthday cake!

/in Fulfilled WishesJean Milligan, 90, a resident of Hempfield Manor in Greensburg, PA, had her poignant wish to have Christmas dinner at her son’s house granted, thanks to our Westmoreland County, PA chapter. Milligan has been a resident of her nursing facility for over three years. It is difficult for her to leave the facility as she is wheelchair bound and has other medical issues. Her wish for Christmas dinner with her family was granted!
Thomas M., 77, Pittsburgh, PA

Michak lives in a senior high rise and is not allowed to have a window unit. Because he is on oxygen 24/7, he needs cool air in order to breathe easier. His wish was granted on December 13, 2019.
Majestic Oaks Residents, Warminster, PA
/in Fulfilled WishesEmployees from Horsham-based Optum and Twilight Wish, worked together to grant the simple needs wishes of 40 residents at Majestic Oaks Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Warminster. As part of Optum’s community outreach efforts, employees in their Horsham office helped brighten the holidays for these residents by granting their wishes for simple items such as puzzles, Tastykakes, and knitting needles. Optum employees and Twilight Wish representatives visited Majestic Oaks and distributed the holiday gifts to the residents on Wednesday, December 18, 2019.
Maria A., 85, McMurray, PA
/in Fulfilled WishesMaria Anthou, a resident of McMurray, PA, had her wish to receive an honorary high school diploma granted, thanks to our Washington County, PA chapter. Anthou, 85, emigrated to the United States from Greece when she was a young woman. She and her husband married and raised a family together. Anthou never had the opportunity to complete high school and was also sad about that, given that all her children had post graduate degrees. She felt that receiving an honorary diploma would make her feel complete in her life which was important since she supported all her children in finding their successful paths. She was presented with an honorary diploma during a ceremony at her facility.
Mary B., 100, North Huntington, PA
/in Fulfilled WishesMary Belback, a resident of Walden’s View in North Huntington, Pennsylvania, had her wish for a party to celebrate her 100th birthday granted, thanks to the Westmoreland County chapter. Belback, who turned 100 on November 7th, has very little family that can celebrate this milestone birthday with her. Therefore, the staff at Walden’s View wanted to surprise Belback with a party celebrating this special day! Volunteers from Twilight Wish brought decorations, a cake and several small gifts for Belback.
