Although Bernadine had lived in New Orleans for many years when she was younger, she never had the chance to ride in a horse-drawn carriage there. Now, at 76 and living in Houston, she has courageously battled both liver and breast cancer and her one wish was to finally take that carriage ride. On June 21, 2025, Bernadine’s wish came true when she and her daughter, Stephanie, enjoyed a lovely dinner at world-famous New Orleans restaurant Brennan’s of Houston and then took a carriage ride through downtown Houston.
In addition, Bernadine is a huge Snoop Dogg fan and wished to meet him. Although the Houston chapter was not able to arrange that, a life-size cardboard cutout of Snoop Dogg joined them for dinner! A huge thank you to Brennan’s of Houston for donating the dinner and to Hurn Alison of Houston Carriage for donating the carriage ride.
