Carl is a Navy veteran and has not been able to attend a Pirates game in many years after suffering a stroke. Now 90 years old, his health is further deteriorating and he wished to go to one last Pirates game. Carl was a pitcher and infielder in his younger years and still never misses a Pirates game on TV or radio. He also coached baseball, football and taught archery to youth. Thanks to the Pirates, Carl and fifteen of his family members attended the Pirates vs. Mets game on June 28, 2025. A huge thank you to the Pirates for generously donating the box seats and refreshments for the entire family! The Pirates also gave Carl a jersey with his name and “90” for his years of age, a bat signed by Andrew McCutchen and a ball signed by Paul Skenes!
