Kimberly meets her idol, Donny Osmond!
Kimberly Owen, a resident of the Marjorie McCune Community in Black Mountain, North Carolina, had her lifelong wish to meet Donny Osmond granted, thanks to our Western North Carolina chapter. nonprofit Born blind, Owen has been a resident of her facility since she was 19 years old. She loves music and has a beautiful singing voice and an uncanny ability to remember lyrics. Kimberly was only six years old when she first heard Donny Osmond sing – he was singing “Sweet and Innocent” on WWIT. It was love at “first listen” and she became his biggest fan. Growing up she listened to the Donny & Marie Show until it was canceled. Kimberly has even written two songs about the Osmonds! She has given back to the community throughout her life and is currently the resident ambassador for her facility, making new residents feel welcome and at home. Her wish to meet Osmond came true when she, Vicki Beam and chapter director Tish Zimmerman fly to Las Vegas to see him perform at Harrah’s in early September. Not only did Kimberly get to meet him, but Donny spent nearly an hour talking with her and they even sang a duet together!
