Oakdale, PA – Theresia Brandl, 105, a resident of Oakdale, Pennsylvania, will have her wish to receive her high school diploma granted, thanks to the Allegheny County chapter of national nonprofit Twilight Wish Foundation. Brandl has always regretted that she never graduated from high school. She attended Stowe Township High School but left before she graduated in order to help take care of her family. In 1996, Stowe Township High School merged with McKees Rocks High School to form Sto-Rox High School. Brandl will be presented with an honorary diploma from Sto-Rox during a graduation ceremony in her nursing facility complete with cap and gown on Wednesday, May 17th.
Twilight Wish Foundation is a national nonprofit charitable organization that grants wishes to deserving, economically-disadvantaged seniors. Since our founding in 2003, Twilight Wish has granted over 2,600 wishes to deserving seniors. 2017 is the inaugural year of our “Week of Wishes,” a national wish-granting event from May 14th through May 20th. Chapters across the U.S. will be granting wishes during this week. Twilight Wish grants wishes to seniors who are over 65 years old and have an income of less than 200% of poverty level or who cannot make their own wishes come true. The Allegheny County chapter is excited to partner with local health agencies and businesses to help needy seniors in our community.
