Helping Sister Ann give back to others!

Sister Ann Mack, a resident of Saint Mary Home in West Hartford, recently had her wish for shelving and supplies for the craft room there granted, thanks to our Connecticut chapter. Sister Ann is 86 and has been a Sister of Mercy for over 65 years. She spent 25 years as a teacher in Catholic schools, 20 years as a Director of Religious Education in parishes throughout the state and ended her career serving her community doing outreach and service with individuals experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. When Sister Ann moved to Saint Mary Home two years ago, she quickly found a way to contribute to her new home by getting donations of materials and doing crafts with the residents there. She even held a Christmas craft fair for the staff and visitors in December to try to earn money for new supplies. Her niece nominated her to have the small room they use for crafts be outfitted with shelving and storage for supplies, accessible tables and seating and craft supplies so that Sister Ann can continue leading craft workshops with the residents there. This not only benefits the residents but keeps Sister Ann active and engaged as a Sister of Mercy who puts service before almost everything.
