Lorette began employment at a very young age for the government. The war caused a shortage of fuel that left farmers exploring their options for harvest without gasoline-powered farm implements. Lorette was one of many Massachusetts teens hired for about four hours a day to harvest acres of carrots, beets, spinach, corn, and tomatoes. She then worked in a hospital helping wounded soldiers before finally working as a Navy machine manager.
This year is the 20th Anniversary of the National Rosie The Riveter Convention. It will be held in New Orleans from June 1-3rd. Lorette’s greatest wish would be to attend this special event and connect with other Rosies and Rosebuds. She will be accompanied by a caregiver. We need to raise about $2,100 to cover the transportation, lodging and convention costs. Please donate to help make her wish come true!
