Lavonne L., New Castle, PA

Lavonne Lyles has lived in New Castle, Pa. for most of her life.  The widow of a veteran, Lyles enjoys gardening and volunteering with AMVETS in the community.  She helped create and care for the community garden at the former I CARE House in New Castle and was a very active member of the senior program at the I CARE House, now known as Origins.

Her wish was to have the community garden plot restored and plant pumpkins for the children. This simple wish was granted on Earth Day, Saturday, April 26, 2014 as part of the Comcast Cares Day at Origins. Special thanks to Personal Touch Home Care for their generous donation for this wish.  A special thank you to Angie Mohr of Cray Youth and Family Services and Christina Lope from the Origins Program for allowing us to be part of a great day! We would also like to thank the anonymous donor who contributed $500.
