Ollie C., 68, Gadsen, AL
/in Fulfilled Wishes/by Mary FarrellOllie Clanton, 68, an Army veteran and resident of Gadsen, Alabama, who served during the Vietnam War, recently had his wish to reunite with his older sister who is ailing granted , thanks to Twilight Wish Foundation and Volpe and Koenig, P.C. Clanton, along with his niece, Teresa Clanton, traveled to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in early June to see his sister Elaine Carnevale, 77. Although Clanton and his sister are close and talk on the phone frequently, they hadn’t seen each other in more than 15 years. With Carnevale in declining health and housebound, Clanton wanted to make the trip to see her before it is too late. While in Philadelphia, Clanton and his niece, Teresa Clanton, attended the annual West Point Society of Philadelphia Founders Day Banquet on Saturday, June 7th. Twilight Wish founder Cass Forkin presented Clanton with a wish certificate honoring him for his service during the banquet. This wish was funded through Volpe & Koenig’s 2013 IPromiseTM Charitable Giving Fund (IPromise). Twilight Wish was chosen as one of the two recipients of this annual grant in 2013. Dorothy C., 78, Poland, OH
/in Fulfilled Wishes/by Mary FarrellDorothy Cooper, 78, recently had her wish for hearing aids granted, thanks to our New Castle, PA/Youngstown, OH chapter and Centers for Hearing Care. Dorothy is a widow of five years; after her husband passed away, she had to give up their family home and now rents. She couldn’t afford hearing aids on her own because of her limited income. Her hearing loss made her withdraw from others; she was afraid to be around others and not be able to hear what they were saying. She had trouble talking on the phone and could no longer hear the minister in church. Thanks to her new hearing aids, Dorothy will no longer “feel alone in a room with other people.” Pictured: Dorothy with New Castle chapter director Tom Ford and Dr. Sheryl Figliano of the Centers for Hearing Care.

/in Fulfilled Wishes/by Mary FarrellLouise Cassidy, 81, a resident of Summit Ridge Center in West Orange, New Jersey, had her wish to work with a Girl Scout troop on a badge granted on Friday, April 25, 2014. Cassidy taught elementary school at St. Rose Catholic School in Newark for over 23 years. She also volunteered for eight years as a den mother for St. Rose’s Cub Scout troop. Having spent a lifetime around children, Cassidy now misses the time participating in their emotional growth and development and would like to again be involved with children. Twilight Wish arranged for Cassidy to help the members of Pleasantdale Junior Girl Scout Troop #20274 work on their “Playing the Past” badge. Each troop member researched a period in time and shared it with the group with a poster and historically-correct paper doll. During the third and final troop meeting at Summit Ridge Center, troop members, their parents and Cassidy shared refreshments and learned about each Girl Scout’s period in time.
