Edward W., 76, Imperial, PA

The Allegheny County, PA chapter of Twilight Wish granted the wish of U.S. Army veteran Edward Walker on May 23rd. Walker, 76, wished for a laptop with printer to reconnect with high school and army buddies, as well as fellow retired nurses that he has lost touch with over the years. Walker was a nurse in the Army and cared for wounded soldiers returning from overseas during the Cuban Missile Crisis.  He continued his work as a nurse both in his hometown of Pittsburgh and then as a traveling nurse.  He returned home to Pittsburgh to care for his sister until she passed away in 2003.  After she passed away, Walker retired and his own health began to fail.  Caregivers from the Allegheny Area Agency on Aging nominated Walker as he his homebound now and his only socialization is with his caregivers.
