Edith L., 81, Boston, MA

Edith Lofton had her wish to visit the National African American Museum of History and Culture and the Martin Luther King, Jr. monument in Washington D.C. granted, thanks to Twilight Wish Foundation.  Lofton, 81, volunteered on the Boston area committees to fundraise for both the museum and the monument. She worked as a nurse for many years and also volunteers as an usher at her church, Morning Star Baptist Church. Lofton was nominated by her granddaughter who wrote “Because she lived through the Civil Rights Movement, being able to visit the monument and museum will be a wonderful way for her to relive her earlier years and reflect on where she has come from.” Because Lofton lives on a fixed income, she could not afford the costs of travel and lodging on her own. She and her daughter travelled via bus from Boston to D.C., arriving on the 25th and leaving on the 27th.  Special thanks to Debbie Goetz Media Connections for their in-kind sponsorship of this wish.
